When Your Taste Buds Need a Trip Home.

Hey, I'm Ken, a New Yorker who's been living in Japan for over two decades.

Japan has some of the best food in the world. The ramen, the sushi, the yakitori... it's all fantastic. But like any great international city, Japan also delivers when it comes to food from around the world. Authentic Mexican, proper Southern BBQ, real Middle Eastern — you don't have to compromise. You just have to know where to look. That's what Gaijin Eats is for.

The site grew out of the Gaijin Eats Japan Facebook community, which I started from scratch among a small group of friends but opened to the rest of Facebook around 2018. It is now over 12,700 members. That community showed me how many people in Japan were looking for the same thing. This site is the next step, a proper home for international food in Japan, with listings, reviews, and editorial content all in one place.

Restaurants, bars, breweries, specialty shops — if it's international and it's good, it's here. Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, Kyoto and beyond.
Reviews are always my own honest opinion. All sponsored listings meet one standard: if I wouldn't eat it back home, it doesn't make the cut.

Know a place that should be on here? Tell them to get in touch at info@satocreativemedia.com.
